Overview
- Police say Perry was driving a westbound Jeep at high speed on Route 139 when he crossed double-yellow lines and struck an eastbound Honda Civic head-on.
- The Jeep first passed a tow truck and then attempted to pass a Hyundai Elantra, and the collision left the Civic overturned while the Hyundai was also hit.
- Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to free the Civic’s driver, Perry exited his vehicle on his own, and both were hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
- Marshfield police placed Perry on administrative leave, notified the Massachusetts POST Commission, engaged an independent third party for an internal review, and are coordinating with state police and the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department.
- Authorities are seeking charges of reckless operation, two marked-lanes violations, and speed greater than reasonable and proper, with additional counts possible after the state police crime lab’s toxicology review.
