Overview
- Marshall Manning, who made his high-school debut Thursday, Aug. 20, entered Baylor’s season opener and completed an eight-yard pass to Antwaun Adams as Baylor beat Brentwood Academy 38-20.
- Baylor head coach Erik Kimrey said Manning is the team’s freshman backup for the 2026 season and that the brief appearance was planned as part of his development.
- On his first varsity snap Manning rolled right and found Adams for a first down, then handed the ball to David Gabriel Georges on the next play before senior starter Keegan Croucher returned.
- The ESPN2 broadcast and social media clips generated national attention because of the Manning family legacy, Manning’s No. 16 jersey and his earlier transfer from Cherry Creek after dressing as an eighth grader.
- The short debut is intended to give game experience without changing the depth chart this season and could raise recruiting interest as Manning builds toward a likely starting role after Croucher graduates.
