Marseille Poll Finds Payan and Allisio Tied as Security Defines the Campaign

The incumbent is centering his bid on security with renewed demands for state resources.

Overview

  • An Ipsos-BVA survey published Jan. 12 shows Benoît Payan and RN’s Franck Allisio at 30% each in first-round intentions, with Martine Vassal at 23% and Sébastien Delogu at 14%.
  • The poll sampled 801 Marseille residents between Jan. 2 and 8, before Payan formally announced his re-election bid.
  • In media interviews, Payan said he doubled the municipal police from about 400 to 800 and argued Marseille has roughly 40 national police on night duty, calling for more state support.
  • He ruled out partnering with LFI and warned an RN-led city would divide residents and deter investors.
  • He dismissed talk of legislative elections being held during the municipal vote as “a farce,” as his Printemps marseillais allies urged a first-round anti-RN vote.
