Marseille Bouncer Killed, Suspect Arrested as Shootings and Stabbings Hit City and Paris Suburbs

Police have opened separate inquiries across both areas following the overnight attacks.

Overview

  • A 47-year-old security chief was fatally stabbed outside the Little Temple pub in Marseille’s Opéra district, and a 43-year-old man was arrested after bystanders subdued him, with a second man treated for a hand injury.
  • Witnesses reported the assailant had been ejected from the bar shortly before the attack, and the investigation has been assigned to the territorial criminal division.
  • In Marseille’s Belle-de-Mai, a 20-year-old was shot in the neck and resuscitated before being rushed to hospital in critical condition as police seek the shooter seen fleeing by car.
  • Gunfire in Bon-Secours left a 26-year-old with a non–life-threatening hand wound, and a separate stabbing in the Canet neighborhood critically injured a 19-year-old, with both cases under investigation.
  • In the Paris region, two people were stabbed in Vanves where five suspects were detained, and in Paris’s 12th arrondissement two adolescents were wounded in a reported rixe as three young men were taken into custody and the minors’ prosecutor reviews the case.
