Marriott and Pacifica to Debut City Express in Japan With Two Osaka Conversions

Pacifica will operate the rebranded Osaka properties through Marriott Bonvoy to reach cost‑conscious travelers.

Overview

  • Pacifica Hotels G.K. signed a franchise agreement with Marriott International to convert two existing Osaka hotels to City Express by Marriott.
  • The openings are expected to mark the City Express brand’s debut in the Asia Pacific region, according to Marriott’s development chief for the region.
  • Following full rebrands, the properties plan to reopen in Spring 2026 as City Express by Marriott Osaka Namba South and City Express by Marriott Osaka Shin-Imamiya.
  • Pacifica, via its subsidiary Shin Imamiya Hospitality, will serve as franchisee and positions the hotels to offer affordable, quality stays as Japan’s hotel rates rise.
  • The 143-room Namba South and 100-room Shin-Imamiya hotels sit next to metro and rail hubs in Nishinari Ward with direct access to Kansai International Airport via the Nankai Main Line.
