- The festival is being held as a 'bastion of peace' and an 'invitation for discovery, empathy and sharing,' according to Moroccan Prince Moulay Rachid.
- The festival will feature more than 70 films, including Richard Linklater’s action-comedy 'Hit Man' and Matteo Garrone’s Italian immigration drama 'Io Capitano.'
- Mads Mikkelsen will receive a career achievement award and Moroccan director Faouzi Bensaidi will be honored.
- The festival will also host the Atlas Workshops, presided over by director Martin Scorsese, to screen films or films in progress by emerging Arab and Moroccan filmmakers.
