Overview
- Nearly 200 of the identified locations are in London, with additional lists published for regions including the North West, Midlands, Scotland, East Anglia and North Wales.
- All prospective sites would use the larger ‘renewal’ Food format, and M&S expects more than half of its estate to be in this format by April 2028.
- M&S is seeking prominent, highly accessible sites capable of around 18,000 sq ft of trading space (with different specifications inside the M25) and dedicated parking.
- The rollout is underpinned by strong results from newer stores, including the Selby Three Lakes prototype that the company says outperformed expectations.
- Twelve former Homebase properties are being converted into large Food stores, with the first due to open in England before Christmas and Cannock named locally as an early site; the company’s medium-term estate goal is about 180 full-line stores and 420 Food stores.
