Overview
- Kettle Cuisine of Savage, Maryland, has recalled about 3,240 Marketside Tomato Bisque Soup Kits sold exclusively at select Walmart stores after routine testing produced a presumptive positive for Listeria monocytogenes.
- The recalled item is a 14-ounce tray labeled Marketside Tomato Bisque with UPC 194346474004 and a best-by/use-by date of Aug. 22, 2026; affected kits were distributed to Walmart stores in 29 states between June 30 and July 7.
- Company and FDA officials say no illnesses have been confirmed so far and they are working together on confirmatory lab testing and an investigation of the possible contamination.
- Consumers are advised not to eat, sell, or distribute the kits, and to discard or return them for a refund; anyone who handled the product should wash hands and clean and sanitize any surfaces it may have touched.
- Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious infections in pregnant people, newborns, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems, so the recall primarily aims to protect those groups while further testing and tracebacks continue.
