Mark Sanchez Released From Hospital, Booked at Indianapolis Jail Before Leaving State

Prosecutors cite court records portraying him as the aggressor, elevating the case to a Level 5 felony.

Overview

  • The former NFL quarterback was processed Sunday at the Marion County Jail to satisfy a judge’s requirement for fingerprinting and a mug shot before traveling out of Indiana.
  • Sanchez faces one Level 5 felony count of battery resulting in serious bodily injury and three misdemeanors: battery resulting in bodily injury, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication that endangers the life of another.
  • Speaking briefly after his release, Sanchez thanked first responders and his surgeon, said he is focused on recovery, and appeared with his right arm in a sling.
  • A police affidavit states Sanchez accosted 69-year-old truck driver Perry Tole, who pepper-sprayed and then stabbed him claiming self-defense; both men were injured.
  • Tole has filed a civil suit against Sanchez and Fox Corporation and Fox has placed Sanchez on leave, while prosecutors say the criminal investigation continues with a Nov. 5 pretrial conference set.
