Mark Jackson Barred from Commentating for Knicks on MSG Network
Knicks President Leon Rose cites old dispute with assistant Darren Erman as reason for decision.
- Mark Jackson, former ESPN analyst and NBA guard, has been barred from joining the MSG Network as a commentator for the New York Knicks due to an old dispute with Knicks assistant Darren Erman.
- Jackson was supposed to fill in for Walt Frazier for a five-game stretch of away games, but Knicks president Leon Rose made the final decision not to allow Jackson on the team plane, hotel, or team bus.
- The dispute originates from 2014 when Jackson, then coaching the Golden State Warriors, fired Erman for secretly recording conversations between players, coaches, and staff.
- Jackson was let go by ESPN earlier this summer as part of a wave of layoffs and was supposed to continue being paid by ESPN for the two years remaining in his contract.
- With Jackson out, Wally Szczerbiak is filling in for Frazier as MSG’s game analyst.
