Marjorie Taylor Greene Fined $12,000 for Illegal PAC Fundraising

The Federal Election Commission levied the fine over online ads soliciting donations for the Georgia Senate runoff elections, a violation of the Federal Election Campaign Act.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has been fined $12,000 by the Federal Election Commission for illegally fundraising for the Stop Socialism Now PAC.
The fine was levied over online ads for the super PAC in which Greene asked for donations to finance the Georgia Senate runoff elections in January 2021.
The ads, posted in late 2020 and early 2021, solicited donations on a link and were shared on Greene's own social media accounts.
Federal officeholders are not allowed to solicit funds in connection with an election for Federal office unless the funds are subject to the limitations, prohibitions, and reporting requirements of the Federal Election Campaign Act.
Greene has not commented on the fine.
