Overview

  • Mario Kart World launched June 5 as the Switch 2’s flagship title and retails for $79 in the US, £74.99 in the UK and $119.95 in Australia, with a console-and-game bundle priced at $499.99.
  • Its new open-world design links classic tracks into a single map where players can explore in Free Roam mode, collect Peach medallions, complete P-Switch challenges and unlock stickers, though some reviewers find Free Roam underdeveloped.
  • Online and split-screen races now accommodate up to 24 karts simultaneously, delivering smooth performance with no noticeable load times or lag.
  • Knockout Tour, a six-stage elimination mode that trims the field at checkpoints until only four racers remain, has been praised for injecting fresh strategic tension into the series.
  • Mirror Mode returns once players complete all 150cc Grand Prix and Knockout Tour cups, meet Free Roam objectives and replay the Special Cup, and can be accessed in Free Roam via a Super Mario 64–inspired stained glass Easter egg.
