Overview

  • The 1.2.0 patch overturns the previous intermission-track dominance by making lap-type courses more likely when selecting the next race in VS Race and wireless matchmaking.
  • Nintendo has reduced CPU aggressiveness across all game modes except Battle to accommodate varying player skill levels.
  • Key item behaviors were rebalanced, including reduced Boomerang homing, lower Triple Dash Mushroom odds for trailing racers and higher chances of question-mark blocks outside Frantic rules.
  • New VS Race options “No COM” and “Mushrooms Only” join quality-of-life upgrades such as spectator selection, ghost replay viewing, camera cursor memory and a visible wait-time indicator in multiplayer lobbies.
  • The update applies dozens of fixes across tracks and modes, resolving issues from floating vehicles and gliding crashes to misdisplayed scores and collision glitches.
