Marinette DA Clears Officers in Fatal Peshtigo Shooting After High-Speed Pursuit

The district attorney cited corroborating video evidence to close the use-of-force case.

Overview

  • The determination was announced Oct. 7 by District Attorney DeShea Morrow following a review of DOJ Division of Criminal Investigation materials and recorded footage.
  • The Aug. 29 pursuit on U.S. 41 near Schacht Road reached more than 100 mph and ended in a rollover crash after an attempt to use stop sticks.
  • Driver Andrew Collamore exited the wreck holding a folding knife and ignored repeated commands, and a Marinette County deputy’s Taser did not stop him.
  • Marinette Police Officers Parker J. De Los Santos and Andrew D. Bonjean fired when Collamore advanced, and he later died at a hospital while no officers were injured.
  • The vehicle was tied to a Mazomanie homicide that Dane County continues to investigate, with authorities identifying the victim as 70-year-old Thomas Muckler.
