Mariners Reacquire Infielder Austin Shenton from Rays

Seattle designates JT Chargois for assignment to make room for former prospect Shenton.

The Seattle Mariners have traded cash considerations to the Tampa Bay Rays to bring back infielder Austin Shenton.
Austin Shenton, 26, made his MLB debut with the Rays this year, playing 19 games and batting .214.
Shenton spent most of the season with Triple-A Durham, where he hit .258 with 20 home runs and 65 RBIs.
The Mariners designated right-hander JT Chargois for assignment to clear a roster spot for Shenton.
Shenton was originally traded to the Rays in 2021 as part of a deal involving JT Chargois and Diego Castillo.
