Seattle Mariners are reportedly in talks with the Chicago White Sox to acquire starting pitcher Dylan Cease, with the White Sox seeking a deal involving young starters Bryce Miller or Bryan Woo.
Dylan Cease, who is 28, notched 214 strikeouts and a 4.58 ERA in 33 starts last year, but has seen a decline in his performance compared to previous seasons.
Despite being named the Opening Day starter for the White Sox, Cease's name has been in the trade rumor mill all winter, with the White Sox seemingly in no rush to make a deal.
The Baltimore Orioles, fresh off a 101-win performance in 2023, have also been suggested as a potential destination for Cease, as they are in need of a starting pitcher.
The White Sox are in the early stages of a massive rebuild, and any trade involving Cease would need to have a long-term focus, featuring high-end, young big leaguers or prospects.
