Overview
- The Mariners claimed Michael Toglia off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds on Friday as a low-risk addition to first-base depth.
- Toglia ended the season with a season‑ending shoulder dislocation and has been placed on the injured list while he recovers.
- He showed clear raw power in 2024 with 25 home runs and strong exit-velocity marks but followed with uneven major-league results and high strikeout rates.
- In 2026 he had just 28 plate appearances for Cincinnati, hitting .115/.179/.192, and spent most of the year in Triple-A where he produced better power numbers.
- Toglia has no remaining minor-league options, so Seattle must either keep him on its 40‑man roster and carry him into spring competition or designate him for assignment if he does not win a roster spot.
