Mariners Claim LHP Tyler Jay Off Waivers from Brewers

Seattle adds the former first-round pick to its bullpen, filling its 40-man roster ahead of Spring Training.

The Seattle Mariners have claimed left-handed pitcher Tyler Jay off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers.
Jay, a former No. 6 overall MLB draft pick in 2015, made his major league debut in 2024 after years of setbacks, including thoracic outlet syndrome surgery and a hiatus from baseball in 2021.
He pitched five games in 2024 between the Mets and Brewers, posting a 7.71 ERA with New York but delivering three scoreless innings with Milwaukee.
In Triple-A last season, Jay recorded a 3.02 ERA with 49 strikeouts and 12 walks over 36 appearances split between the Mets' and Brewers' systems.
The Mariners also recently claimed right-hander Hagen Danner, with both pitchers competing for bullpen roles when Spring Training begins on February 12.
