Marine Le Pen to Visit Cyclone-Hit Mayotte for Three Days

Marine Le Pen, leader of the National Rally (RN) in the French Assembly, will visit Mayotte from January 5 to 7, three weeks after Cyclone Chido caused widespread destruction.
Her visit aims to show solidarity with Mahorais and to monitor the implementation of emergency aid measures announced by Prime Minister François Bayrou earlier this week.
Le Pen has expressed support for the government's 'Mayotte Debout' plan but stressed the importance of ensuring promises made to the population are upheld.
Mayotte, a French overseas territory, has been a stronghold for Le Pen, with her receiving 59% of the vote there in the 2022 presidential election.
This trip follows visits by Emmanuel Macron and François Bayrou, who assessed the cyclone's damage and outlined recovery plans.
