Overview
- Marhowra facility has secured a ₹3,000 crore contract to build 140 high-powered ES43ACmi diesel locomotives for Guinea’s Simandou iron ore venture
- Deliveries of the Evolution Series engines are scheduled from June 2025 through March 2028
- Each locomotive is customized for Guinea with standard gauge adaptations, dual cabs, advanced emission controls and smart electronics
- Since 2018 the joint venture has delivered over 700 locomotives domestically and will supply 300 more to Indian Railways by fiscal 2028 under a $2.5 billion public-private partnership
- The export order is expected to generate significant direct and ancillary employment in Bihar and strengthen India’s role in global rail manufacturing
