• In an Entertainment Weekly interview published Aug. 22, Robbie said Christina Hodson’s first Birds of Prey draft featured the Penguin as the main antagonist.
• She recounted that Matt Reeves asked the team not to use the character because he planned to deploy him in his Batman project, leading to the switch to Ewan McGregor’s Black Mask.
• Colin Farrell, who plays the Penguin for Reeves, reacted with surprise and asked to read the original draft, and Robbie said she still has it and would share it.
• Farrell portrayed Oswald Cobblepot in The Batman (2022) and HBO’s The Penguin (2024), and he is expected to reprise the role in The Batman: Part II on Oct. 1, 2027.
• DC Studios has not confirmed Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn return in the new DCU, while Warner Bros. has said The Batman: Part II is slated to begin production in the spring.
