- UNAM’s Faculty of Philosophy and Letters confirmed on Friday that the distinguished philologist died at age 100.
- The Academia Mexicana de la Lengua, where she held seat XXIV, will render a guard of honor at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Funeraria García López on Miguel Ángel de Quevedo.
- Her landmark works include the multi-volume Cancionero folklórico de México and the Nuevo corpus de la antigua lírica popular hispánica, which set reference standards for the field.
- She taught and built research platforms at El Colegio de México and UNAM, founding and guiding journals such as Literatura Mexicana and Literaturas Populares.
- UNAM, El Colegio de México, and the federal Culture Ministry issued condolences, noting her more than 200 publications and honors including the National Prize for Arts and Sciences (2000), the Alfonso Reyes Prize (2006) and the Menéndez Pelayo Prize (2009).
