Maren Morris Skips CMA Awards, Visits NYC and Discusses Step Back from Country Music

Maren Morris chose to skip the CMA Awards and spent time in New York City promoting her new EP, 'The Bridge', while distancing herself from the country music genre.
She took part in the SiriusXM Next Generation: Industry & Press Preview where she interacted with guests including Kelly Clarkson, Kevin Hart, Conan O'Brien, and others.
The songstress performed at the Bowery Ballroom and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she explained her decision to step back from country music, stating it wasn't serving her anymore.
Morris' transition from country music was clarified as a 'hyperbolic' move and she expressed that she's taking the good parts of country music with her, adding that she's 'a lot happier now'.
Despite her distancing from country music, she affirmed that it is something one can't really leave, as it's a music that's in her and the music she writes.
