St Mirren announced Marcus Fraser as club captain with Alex Gogic named vice-captain after Mark O'Hara left to rejoin Kilmarnock.
Manager Craig McLeish said he chose Fraser because of the way he 'sets standards' around the training ground and in the changing room.
Fraser said he was 'buzzing' to accept the role after being approached by the manager and coaching staff and vowed to lead by example.
