Marchisio Backs Spalletti as Juventus Face Calls for Conte Return

Overview

• On Thursday, October 1, 2026, Claudio Marchisio told La Gazzetta dello Sport he still trusts head coach Luciano Spalletti and urged patience despite fans calling for Antonio Conte to return.
• Marchisio said injuries — especially the loss of young attacker Kenan Yildiz — have materially weakened Juve's early-season form and explained that the side are operating below full strength.
• He singled out Douglas Luiz as the season's standout, praising Luiz's improved play and potential to contribute more goals for a team that has struggled to find consistent scorers.
• Marchisio welcomed a reported €250m capital injection from the club's owners, saying it underlines the Agnelli-Elkann family's commitment and supports medium-term stability and transfer planning.
• He expects Juventus to be competitive again after Christmas, urged the club to take the Europa League seriously as a route back to European success, and suggested January moves could focus on goal-scoring midfielders rather than guaranteed stars.
