Marche and Valle d'Aosta Vote in Autumn's First Regional Test as Early Turnout Lags

A single-round contest in the Marche makes turnout decisive in a race polls rated competitive before the blackout.

Overview

  • Polling stations are open today in both regions, with the Marche voting through Monday at 15:00 and recording a 12:00 turnout of 10.84%, nearly three points below the same point in 2020.
  • In Valle d’Aosta, where the president is chosen later by the regional assembly, voting takes place only today and turnout at noon reached 21.68%.
  • The central contest is the Marche duel between incumbent Francesco Acquaroli (centre-right) and Matteo Ricci (centrosinistra), with pre-blackout surveys giving Acquaroli a modest average lead of about 3–4 points.
  • FdI has filed complaints to Agcom and the Ancona prosecutor after Swg publicly denied authorship of a poll circulated in the centrosinistra camp.
  • Ricci was notified of an investigation by the Procura di Pesaro over his time as Pesaro mayor, a campaign backdrop as national parties frame these votes as a first gauge of the autumn cycle.
