Former NFL defensive end Marcellus Wiley is accused of raping a Columbia University student in 1994, according to a lawsuit filed under the Adult Survivors Act.
The victim, now a sociologist and Ivy League professor, alleges that Wiley forced himself on her in her freshman dorm room, leading her to attempt suicide.
The lawsuit claims that Columbia University administrators dismissed the victim's complaint to protect Wiley's budding professional career.
The victim became active in Columbia’s chapter of Take Back the Night, where she met other women who also shared stories of assault by Wiley.
The lawsuit also accuses Columbia University of negligence and reckless failure to protect its students from 'sexual predators.'
