Overview
- The Maryland Transit Administration announced Wednesday that a new 'Brunswick–Camden run-through' will begin Sept. 28 as a single weekday round-trip connecting Montgomery County and Camden Station in Baltimore.
- One train will run to Baltimore in the morning and return to Montgomery County in the evening, providing a one-seat ride that removes the need to transfer at Washington Union Station.
- The service will stop at Brunswick, Point of Rocks, Barnesville, Germantown, Metropolitan Grove, Gaithersburg, Rockville, Kensington, Silver Spring, College Park, Laurel and Baltimore.
- MTA officials said the connection can cut some morning and evening commutes by up to 60 minutes and will be implemented by adjusting existing Brunswick and Camden line schedules rather than adding new annual operating costs.
- The change responds to a long-standing gap in MARC service that forced riders to transfer in Washington for trips between Montgomery County and Baltimore and could improve access to jobs, colleges and medical centers while prompting adjustments to other weekday trains.
