Marc Overmars Suspended for a Year in the Netherlands Over Inappropriate Messages

The former Ajax director's ban does not affect his current role as sporting director of Antwerp in Belgium.

Marc Overmars, former director of football at Ajax, has been suspended from football activities in the Netherlands for one year due to inappropriate messages sent to female colleagues.
The Instituut Sportrechtspraak (ISR), the Dutch disciplinary committee for sports federations, confirmed the suspension, which bans Overmars from holding any position within a Dutch Football Association-affiliated organisation for a mandated period of two years, one of which is suspended.
Overmars, who had a distinguished playing career with Ajax, Arsenal, Barcelona and the Netherlands, apologised and expressed shame for his 'unacceptable' behaviour.
Despite the ban, Overmars' current position as sporting director of Antwerp in Belgium is not affected.
The ISR indicated that the suspension could be submitted to world football governing body FIFA for review.
