María Becerra Unveils 'Quimera,' a 17-Track Concept Reinvention

She rebuilt the project after a near‑fatal ectopic pregnancy, framing 17 tracks through four alter egos plus her own voice.

Overview

  • The album arrived Nov. 21 with stories told through four personas—Maite, Jojo, Shanina and Gladys—alongside songs in which Becerra speaks as herself.
  • Becerra recounts two ectopic pregnancies, including April emergency surgery, ICU care, intubation and severe blood loss, which reshaped her writing and pushed her to scrap a finished record.
  • Quimera spans pop, urbano, R&B, salsa, dembow and experimental textures, featuring collaborations with Tini, Paulo Londra, Karina, El Alfa, Taichu, Jay Wheeler and J Rei.
  • She will present the album Dec. 12–13 at Buenos AiresRiver Plate stadium in shows billed as the venue’s first 360° production.
  • Her release run includes a Glamour España cover with a “Woman of the Year” honor and a free mobile performance through central Buenos Aires.
