Maple Leafs Tap Brad Treliving as General Manager Following Dubas Dismissal

Brad Treliving left the Calgary Flames in April after nine seasons and has now been appointed the new general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Treliving's hiring comes just two weeks after the Maple Leafs fired GM Kyle Dubas, who had been with the team for four seasons.
Treliving is known for his interpersonal skills, humor, and ability to make big trades, which will be useful as he navigates contract extensions for star players Auston Matthews and William Nylander.
There are similarities between Treliving's hiring and when Cliff Fletcher took over as Maple Leafs GM in 1991, as both came to Toronto shortly after leaving their previous teams.
Treliving's experience and willingness to think creatively will be useful as he tries to help the Maple Leafs finally make a deep playoff run after they won their first postseason series in nearly 20 years this spring.
