Overview

  • Deputy commander Sodhi Kanna of PLGA Battalion No. 1 was killed in a joint operation launched on July 4 in Bijapur’s Indravati National Park.
  • Forces from DRG, CoBRA, CRPF Young Platoon, STF, BSF, ITBP, CAF and Bastar Fighters conducted the mission despite heavy monsoon rains and challenging jungle terrain.
  • Authorities recovered a .303 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, explosive materials, Maoist uniforms, literature and other insurgent items following the encounter.
  • Officials believe the operation disrupted a high-level Maoist gathering involving state committee and area committee members.
