Maoist Couple With Rs 13 Lakh Bounty Arrested in Raipur as SIA Probes Urban Network

Police say the pair lived undercover for years on forged IDs, supporting CPI (Maoist) logistics.

Overview

  • Chhattisgarh’s SIA and Raipur police arrested Jaggu alias Ramesh Kursam (28) and his wife Kamla (27) in Changorabhata on September 23 after surveillance and intercepted calls tied them to senior Maoist leaders.
  • Officers recovered an automatic revolver, a 10‑gram gold biscuit, about Rs 1.14–1.15 lakh in cash, two smartphones and other materials from their rented home.
  • An FIR under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act was filed at DD Nagar; a court sent Kamla to judicial custody and remanded Jaggu to three days of police custody for interrogation.
  • Investigators say the couple used forged Aadhaar and shifted across Raipur, Bhilai and Durg for nearly six years while posing as labourers, with Jaggu also working as a security guard and driver.
  • The inquiry has been handed to the SIA to examine call records and map contacts and suspected safe houses linked to an urban support network.
