India's highest sporting honor recognizes historic achievements by athletes in shooting, chess, hockey, and para-athletics.

The Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, India's highest sporting honor, will be presented to four athletes on January 17, 2025, at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Manu Bhaker, a double Olympic bronze medalist in shooting, overcame an initial nomination confusion to secure the award.
D Gukesh, 18, was recognized for becoming the youngest-ever Chess World Champion and leading India to gold in the Chess Olympiad.
Harmanpreet Singh, captain of the Indian men's hockey team, earned the honor after leading the team to its second consecutive Olympic bronze medal.
Para-athlete Praveen Kumar was awarded for his gold medal win in the T64 high jump at the Paris Paralympics, showcasing excellence in his classification.
