Overview
- Specialist broker Tom Hartley Jnr confirmed on Aug. 27 that one buyer acquired the entire set in a single deal, following his recent handling of Bernie Ecclestone’s car collection sale.
- The price, the buyer’s identity and the destination of the cars were not disclosed, after earlier reports suggested the ensemble could exceed $70 million in value.
- Each of the 20 cars is the final production chassis of its model, with most preserved in factory-fresh condition and finished in the bespoke Yquem shade later dubbed “Mansour Orange.”
- Multiple record bids for individual cars, including the last McLaren F1 built, were declined to keep the collection together as one group.
- Only two cars were used: the F1, at times driven by Lewis Hamilton for family rides, and a P1 GTR that was crashed at Circuit of the Americas and subsequently repaired.
