Manson Family Member Leslie Van Houten Released After More Than 50 Years In Prison

Leslie Van Houten, former member of Charles Manson's cult, was granted parole and released from prison after serving over 50 years for her role in the 1969 murders.
Van Houten participated in the brutal killings of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca along with other members of the Manson "family."
Sharon Tate's sister Debra has been an outspoken advocate against releasing convicted Manson followers and expressed concern over Van Houten's parole.
Charles Manson, the cult leader who ordered but did not directly participate in the killings, died in prison in 2017.
Another Manson Family member involved in the murders, Susan Atkins, died in prison in 2009, while Patricia Krenwinkel remains incarcerated despite being granted parole.
