Manpreet Singh Becomes Second Indian to Reach 400 International Caps

Overview

  • He became only the second Indian and the eighth man worldwide to hit 400 international appearances, joining Hockey India President Dr Dilip Tirkey’s elite tally.
  • He captained India to consecutive Olympic bronze medals in Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 and helped secure two Asian Games golds and two Commonwealth Games silvers.
  • His honours include four Asian Champions Trophy titles and podium finishes in the FIH World League and Champions Trophy competitions.
  • He has been awarded the Arjuna Award, the FIH Men’s Player of the Year and the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna for his on-field excellence.
  • Hockey India President Dr Dilip Tirkey praised Singh’s endurance and leadership, calling him the backbone of Indian hockey’s revival.
