- Machinek, 37, lost control of a blue Porsche 993 RS on Mottarone Mountain on July 30 and the car left the road, rolled down a steep slope and struck a tree.
- Firefighters, paramedics and a Como air ambulance rushed to the scene, rescued him from the wreckage and performed CPR but he later died of his injuries.
- Reports say the Porsche was hired for the commercial, the mountain road had been closed for filming and cameras were reportedly not rolling at the moment of the crash.
- Austrian broadcaster ATV confirmed his death on Instagram and his partner, Maria Maksimovic, paid tribute saying he died doing something he loved as a car enthusiast.
