Manitoba Police Watchdog Seeks Witness to Fatal Winnipeg Shooting

The Independent Investigation Unit is searching for a key witness to a police shooting that followed the stabbing of an officer.

Jordan Charlie, a 24-year-old man from Taloyoak, Nunavut, was fatally shot by Winnipeg police on November 24 after allegedly stabbing an officer in the throat.
The shooting occurred outside a bus shelter in the parking lot of the Unicity Shopping Centre in Winnipeg.
The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) has reviewed video footage and identified a person who likely witnessed the incident but has not yet been able to locate them.
The IIU has released still images of the potential witness and is urging anyone with information to come forward by contacting their office.
The incident has prompted questions about the use of lethal force, with experts calling for more information to determine whether it was justified.
