Manitoba declares state of emergency, evacuates 17,000 residents as wildfires rage

Overview

  • Premier Wab Kinew issued a 30-day province-wide state of emergency on May 28 in response to 22 active wildfires.
  • Mandatory evacuation orders have moved more than 17,000 people from towns including Flin Flon and several First Nations communities.
