Manish Sisodia skips ACB summons in corruption case linked to classroom construction

Overview

  • Sisodia’s counsel cited pre-planned commitments for his absence and secured a new summons for June 20.
  • The ACB charged both Sisodia and former PWD minister Satyendar Jain under the Prevention of Corruption Act following an FIR filed on April 30.
  • The FIR alleges around ₹2,892 crore was disbursed for 12,748 classrooms at roughly ₹24.86 lakh apiece, far above the typical ₹5 lakh construction cost.
  • Investigators found that most of the 34 contractors awarded the project had ties to AAP, and a suppressed 2020 CVC report cited procedural violations.
  • The BJP has branded Sisodia’s no-show as proof of guilt while the AAP maintains the probe is politically driven.
