Overview

  • A joint task force of the Army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, BSF, ITBP and Manipur Police arrested 22 suspects, including 16 militants from banned outfits such as KYKL, KCP, PLA, RPF and PREPAK.
  • Raids in Kangpokpi, Bishnupur, Tengnoupal, Imphal West and Imphal East districts yielded 35 different types of firearms, 11 improvised explosive devices and a substantial cache of ammunition.
  • Operations focused on networks involved in extortion, arms trafficking and recruitment of cadres against the backdrop of Meitei–Kuki-Zo ethnic tensions.
  • Security forces continue area domination patrols in vulnerable regions while police caution against fake media and appeal for the return of looted weapons.
  • The intensified crackdowns build on President’s Rule measures initiated in February 2025 to curb violence after clashes left over 200 dead and thousands displaced.
