Overview

  • Assam Rifles said it apprehended UKNA senior commander SS Lt Jamkhogin Guite Lupho, alias Pepsi, with five others during an October 1 jungle sweep codenamed Operation Songkot in Churachandpur.
  • Police reported that one detainee from the group is suspected in the January 18, 2024 Bishnupur killings and has been handed to the NIA, with a 14-year-old sent to an observation home and four adults remanded.
  • Manipur Police arrested CKMA chief Paokholen Guite in Churachandpur and recovered two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, cash, a vehicle and phones, alleging roles in weapons and drug trafficking and extortion.
  • Raids recovered war-like stores including an M79 grenade launcher with bombs, pistols, radio sets and about three kilograms of opium seeds, underscoring narcotics-linked financing of outlawed outfits.
