Manipur Raids Net 11 Militants From Four Banned Groups, M16 and Service Rifles Seized

Intelligence-led operations targeted extortion-based financing by underground outfits, including coercion of bank officials.

  • Security forces detained 11 cadres during coordinated raids at five locations in Manipur, police said.
  • Recovered weapons included a US-made M16 rifle, five INSAS rifles, three SLRs, two .303 rifles and 26 magazines.
  • Those held comprised six from KCP (PWG), one from SOREPA, two from UNLF (Koireng faction) and two from the PLA.
  • Three KCP (PWG) members arrested in Imphal East were accused of pressuring bank officials to issue loans to beneficiaries.
  • Police said materials evidencing organized extortion were seized, including drafted KCP letterheads, seals, bank-addressed envelopes, IDs and a Mahindra Bolero.
