Overview
- About 25–27 Manipur NDA/BJP MLAs have camped in New Delhi since October 4–5, meeting BJP Northeast in‑charge Sambit Patra but not Union home minister Amit Shah or BJP president J. P. Nadda.
- Patra urged consensus across Meitei, Naga and Kuki legislators, while MLAs asserted they are united on restoring a government and are exploring a meeting with BJP general secretary (organisation) B. L. Santhosh on Friday.
- Some legislators told party interlocutors they prefer dissolving the Assembly and fresh polls if a government is not formed soon, and Patra reportedly assured efforts to restore a popular government before President’s Rule lapses in February 2026.
- NPP chief and Meghalaya CM Conrad K. Sangma arrived in Imphal on October 9, met CSOs, displaced persons and the Governor, and said a democratically elected, pro‑public government is vital to normalcy, adding the NPP will consult its six MLAs before any support decision.
- Manipur has been under President’s Rule since February 13, 2025, after ethnic violence beginning in May 2023 that left about 250 dead and roughly 60,000 displaced, with security officials cautioning that conditions remain volatile despite reduced violence.
