Manipur Police Apprehend Eight Arambai Tenggol Suspects in Officer Assault and Detain Four KCP(PWG) Extremists

Overview

  • Six additional Arambai Tenggol members have been taken into custody for the June 9 attack on ASP Wangkhomba Okramcha during a bandh in Bishnupur district, bringing the total arrested in the case to eight.
  • The newly detained Arambai Tenggol suspects are identified as Laishram Sanahal Singh (26), Laishram Rishikanta Singh (20), Laishram Premchand (18), Kangabam Nongdamba Singh (23), Sarangthem Rabichandra (28) and Yumnam Jaswant Singh (22).
  • Security forces arrested four active members of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) on extortion and fund-raising charges linked to attacks on civilians and businesses.
  • Frontier checkpoints have been reinforced across vulnerable districts and convoys of essential goods are now escorted under heightened security protocols on National Highway 37.
  • Authorities say investigations are ongoing and further arrests have not been ruled out as multi-agency operations continue in sensitive areas.
