Manipur's Security Adviser Kuldiep Singh confirmed the infiltration of 900 Kuki militants from Myanmar, trained in drone-based bombs and jungle warfare.
Intelligence reports indicate the militants are organized into 30-member units and may launch coordinated attacks on Meitei villages by late September.
Security measures have been intensified, with border police and paramilitary forces on high alert, and combing operations underway in hill districts.
The ongoing ethnic conflict between Meitei and Kuki communities has already resulted in over 237 deaths and displaced more than 60,000 people since May 2023.
The Indian government has revoked visa-free movement along the India-Myanmar border and plans to construct a border fence to prevent further infiltration.
