Overview
- Between June 27 and 29, joint operations in Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Jiribam and Tengnoupal led to multiple arrests of insurgent cadres and criminal suspects.
- On June 28, police detained two militants—a Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibanganba) member in Bishnupur and a People’s Liberation Army cadre near the India–Myanmar border in Tengnoupal.
- Security teams recovered a diverse weapons cache including pistols marked “Made in Burma,” SLR and AK-style rifles, hand grenades, magazines and roughly one kilogram of improvised explosive devices.
- A joint police-excise raid in Jiribam seized over 550 bottles of illicit Indian Made Foreign Liquor, reflecting a broader push against smuggling and extortion networks.
- The intensified late-June crackdown builds on February’s President’s rule measures aimed at stemming Meitei-Kuki violence that has claimed more than 260 lives since May 2023.
