Manipur Forces Defuse 27 IEDs, Seize Arms, Four Held in Imphal Raids

Investigators now focus on tracing the source networks behind the seizures.

  • Security teams neutralised 27 country‑made IEDs on January 1 near Monglham village under Thoubal Dam police station in Imphal East.
  • Explosives were moved to a secure site and defused following established safety procedures, police said.
  • Separate searches in Imphal East recovered a cache including a local‑made .32 pistol, a 12‑bore SBBL gun, a rifle, hand‑grenades, magazines, detonators, charger clips, shells, a tube launcher and two radio sets.
  • Two active KYKL cadres were arrested in Thoubal district, while two alleged arms smugglers—Karam Mani Meitei and Thoudam Ranjan Singh—were held in Imphal West and Imphal East with a 9 mm pistol, a magazine and nine rounds.
  • Authorities maintain 115 checkpoints across hill and valley districts and continue convoy escorts on NH‑37 as search and area domination operations persist.
