The abductors have allegedly demanded the release of Mark Thangmang Haokip, a Kuki militant leader, and the transfer of 15 Kuki prisoners to a different facility.
One of the three initially abducted youths, Ningombam Johnson Singh, was rescued by the Assam Rifles, but he suffered significant injuries.
The Manipur government has extended the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in the state, except for areas under 19 police stations in the Imphal valley, to address the ongoing ethnic strife.
